After the success of the SSNET’16 conference, the Center for Nuclear Science and Materials Science (CSNSM, CNRS / Université Paris-Sud) is organizing from 6 to 10 November 2017, the 2nd edition, SSNET’17, in Gif sur Yvette, France.

The conference aims to strengthen the international collaboration between researchers in nuclear structure between French laboratories, Europe and the world. It will allow fruitful discussions on the recent experimental and theoretical aspects of the nuclear structure related to the manifestation and description of the different geometrical shapes and symmetries of the nucleus as well as other symmetries and broken symmetries.

The recent results obtained using different detection systems such as AGATA, JUROGAM, EAGLE, GALILEO, GAMMASPHERE, GRETINA, GRIFFIN, TIGRESS, Eurica, INGA and AFRODITE will be presented, together with the latest theoretical advances and their applications. The intention of the conference is to give impetus to the study of exotic modes of excitation in nuclei using new detectors for gamma rays and associated ancillary detectors.
