Tracking Team

To disentagle the interaction points within AGATA, one should first consider the main physical processes which occur in Germanium for photons of energies of interest: from a few keV to tens of MeV.

Since the main process is Compton scattering, the tracking algorithms are based on the properties of this interaction.

Scattering angles can be obtained from the Compton formula (from the incident and scattered energies) but also from the geometrical positions of the interaction points. In either the forward tracking based algorithms or the backtracking algorithms, the tracking procedure is based on the comparison of these 2 different scattering angles.
